About John Thomas Crocker

John Thomas Crocker, a well known Laclede County resident, died Monday, January 23 at his home six miles west of Lebanon. He had been in bad health for over three years. John Crocker, son of Thomas and Susan Crocker, was born January 7, 1863 and died January 23, 1933 at the age of 70 years and 16 days. His father died when Mr. Crocker was five years old. His mother then married George Farrington. The family moved to Missouri from Illinois when he was a young man. In 1888 he married Margaret Smith. To this union were born eight children, four dying in infancy. The four surviving are George, John and Charlie Crocker and Mrs. Claud Rogers, all of Lebanon. All four children were at his bedside when the end came. He leves to mourn his going, his wife, mother, four children, six grandchildren andtwo great-grandchildren. All attended the funeral. There are also six half sisters; Lizzie Skages of Minnesota; Mandy Bloss of Kansas City; Ella Shates of Pittsburg, Kansas; Alice Kennyon of Iowa; Bertha Morning of Iowa; and Addie Morning of Omaha, Nebraska; and one half brother, Sam Farrington of Iowa. Mrs. Addie Morning attended the funeral. At an early age he was converted and baptized in the Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at the home, conducted by Rev. McCallister. The songs "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder" and "Take the Name of Jesus With You," were sung. Interment was in the family graveyard, seven miles east of Lebanon.
