The maiden name of Francis Strother's wife was Susanna Dabney and she was his executrix. It is supposed that she was a relative of John and Cornelius Dabney, who were Huguenots from France [SIC] and settled near old Hanover town, where Francis Strother resided when he married.

Origins
St. Peter’s Vestry Book records “the deaths of Elizabeth, daughter of Cornelius Dabonie on April 4, 1688 and of John, son of Cornelius Dabonie, on April 7, 1688. It does not give their ages. The 1937 “Origin of the Dabney Family” article in the Virginia Magazine of History and Biography suggests that Cornelius Sr may have had a brother named John who also came to America. Some sites list another son also named John, born to Cornelius and Edythe.
