JOHN WINCHESTER· DANA (Isaac,3 Benjamin,2 Richard 1), born Pomfret, Connecticut, January 29, 1739; died· Pomfret, Vermont, February 9, 1813; married Brooklyn, Connecticut, Oct. 26, 1764, Hannah Pope PUTNAM, born Pomfret, Connecticut. Aug. 25. 1744, died Pomfret, Vermont, April 2, 1820, daughter of General Israel and Hannah (Pope) Putnam of Salem and Pomfret, Connecticut. He removed from Connecticut to Pomfret, Vermont, about 1771. During the Revolution he served under Captain Joshua Hazen in 1777; under Capt. John Throop in 1778; and under Captain Bartholomew Durkee in 1781; was a representative in 1778, 1780-81 and 1792; member of the Constitutional Convention, 1777; clerk and deacon of the Congregational Church many years; and was a large landowner and a man of great energy and ability.
