John Davenport was born in 1695 and named after his father. He was the oldest of six sons. John was born in Massachusetts and lived his entire life there. His family was well acquainted with the family of Joseph Bent. John married Mary Bent on June 10, 1725, in Boston. One of John's brothers (Stephen) married one of Mary's sisters (Thankful).
John and Mary were to have one son and four daughters live to maturity. The name John was passed on to his son.
