JOHN D. DeHAAN, RR 1, Rock Falls, passed away Thursday evening at Community General Hospital at the age of 74. He was born Feb. 25, 1895 in Kalamazoo, Mich., the son of George and Deena DeBoer DeHaan. He was a member of the First Nazarene Church of Sterling, the local barbers union, and worked as a barber for 47 years. He was united in marriage to the former Amy Terry on Nov. 21, 1918 in Clinton, Iowa. They were married 51 years.
Mr. DeHaan is survived by his wife, Amy, one son Franklin E. of Rock Falls and one grandson, Jon Charles of Rock Falls. He was preceded by his parents, one child in infancy and one brother. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Allen Funeral Home in Sterling with the Rev. H. C. Hatton, pastor of the First Church of Nazarene of Sterling, officiating with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Allen Funeral Home in Sterling from 7-9 p.m. Saturday., and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday. -- Contributed by Melva L.
