Biography

John Deighton, son of John Deighton and Jane (Bassett) Deighton, was baptized in Saint Nicholas parish in Gloucester, Gloucestershire on April 9, 1607.<ref name="JohnBpt2"/><ref name="GloucNotesVp135"/><ref name="RoyalAncestryIIp411-2"/>

John had the following child:.# John, bpt. July 7, 1642 at St. Nicholas, Gloucester,<ref name="SonBpt"/><ref name="GloucNotesVp136"/> m. Anne Urutt,<ref name="GloucNotesVp136"/> buried January 1, 1695 at St. Mary de Lode, Gloucester<ref name="SonBurial"/><ref name="GloucNotesVp136"/>The identity of the mother of his child and, presumptively, his first wife is unknown.
John married, second, Mary Arislye/Ausley at St Nicholas on August 5, 1664.<ref name="SecondMarriage"/><ref name="GloucNotesVp136"/> John is called "Practitioner in Physic and Chirurgery" on his tombstone in St. Nicholas Church. In a roll published by the Royal College of Physicians, London, he is mentioned as practicing in Bristol in 1665.<ref name="GloucNotesVp136"/> John made his will on July 14, 1676. In his will, he left 10 pounds each to his son John, his aunt Mrs. Elizabeth Brown, and his kinswoman Katharine Walker, to buy memorial rings. He left his real property to his son and his personal property to his wife, who was appointed sole executrix.<ref name="GloucNotesVp136"/><ref name="TAG9p219"/> There is a monument for him in St Nicholas church that states that he died on October 31, 1676.<ref name="TAG9p215"/><ref name="GloucHist494"/>
