disputed origins

Unknown. Not accepted as a "Drake of Wiscomb" by genealogists Robert Anderson and Douglas Richardson. See discussion https://www.geni.com/discussions/169080?msg=1154593

Two descendants of John Drake have submitted their Y-DNA test results and pedigrees to the Drake DNA Surname Project. Both results demonstrate that the participants, and therefore their direct male Drake ancestors, belong to haplogroup T and are not related within a meaningful genealogical time period to the majority of other Drakes who can trace their ancestry to the American colonies in the 17th century.

  • "Records and documents, Windsor, Conn 1639 - 1703"

He came to Boston about 1639; he d. from the result of an injury, Aug. 17, 1659. His widow d. Oct. 7, 1681, it is stated, "at 100th year of age." If so, she must have been several years older than her husband, or else, which is more probable, he was b. at a considerably earlier date than stated above." Comment: this is an old myth. Elizabeth Rogers was more likely born about 1602.
