John F. Mehegan

John F. Mehegan, a jazz pianist, teacher and author whose four-volume work, Jazz Improvisation, is one of the most widely used publications for teaching jazz piano, died of a brain tumor Tuesday at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan, Conn. Mr. Mehegan, who was 67 years old, maintained a studio in Westport for 20 years but had moved to Rowayton shortly before his death.

Mr. Mehegan, whose three marriages all ended in divorce, is survived by five children - Cary and Getchen Mehegan of Toronto and Sean, Eben and Tara Mehegan of Westport.
