Biography
John was born in 1727 at Bridgewater, Massachusetts, the son of John Field and Mary (Howard) Field.[1][2][3]
He married Lydia Warren in 1748 at Plainfield, Connecticut.[4][5]

He passed away in 1794 at Providence and is buried at the North Burial Ground. His headstone is engraved, "Dea. John Field son of John 4th born in 1727 died in 1794."
John left a will dated 11 February 1794 and proved 7 April 1794.[2]

Some sources list John's birthplace at Providence, but we use Bridgewater here because the vital record for his birth is most trustworthy and makes no annotation about the birth occurring in another city.
John Field appears as head of household in Providence in the 1774 census of Rhode Island.[10] His household distribution and inferred attributions are:
