About John Fowler, Sr.
Biography
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Fowler-764
John Fowler lived in Bladen County, North Carolina over South River near where his brother Daniel lived.[1]
John was a private in the Bladen Foot military group during the French and Indian Wars in 1754-1755. Other roles, such as court clerk, were also shared with his brother, Daniel: Clerk of the Sessions Court (The Cape Fear Route).[1]
John, Daniel and D'Arcy are believed to be brothers.[1] At present, their parents are unknown. Please see the Research Notes.
Among his children were:
- John Fowler (abt.1739-abt.1808)[1] married Hannah Sutton
The apparent migration to South Carolina does not appear to be described in the Fowler (1989) text, but it is interesting to note that his nephew of the same name (John Fowler Sr (1747-1844)) also migrated to South Carolina for a short period.
By 1790, he was living in Union, Newberry, South Carolina,[2] and by 1800, Union, Union District, South Carolina.[3]
Research Notes
Family of Origin: The parents who were attached have been detached), as the father, William Fowler (1664-1729), who was attached never left Milford, New Haven, Connecticut and the mysterious 2nd wife Mary (UNKNOWN) Fowler (abt.1692-) would be hard-pressed to have married William Fowler as he predeceased his only documented wife. Furthermore, William Fowler named all of his children in his will, and none of them were born after a Jonathan, who had a clearly different history. Brothers Daniel, D'Arcy and John Fowler may well have had a father named William Fowler, but he has yet to be located.
