Following from "Aaron French and His Descendants" complied by Charles Newton French: "John F rench (ffrench) lived at Woodbridge, N. J., as early as 1670; owned lands there and on State n Island; d. 1713 at Woodbridge. His will names his w., Susannah, dau., Ann (w. of James Lei th), and sons, John and Richard. John (John) lived in Middlesex Co. as late as 1721; Richar d (John) settled near Springfield, Essex (now Union) Co.; Elston Marsh French, Plainfield, N. J., and others of that vicinity, are desc. of Richard."

According to the following found at <> John French, brick mason, was born no later than 1648 and died testate in1713 at Woodbridge T ownship, Middlesex County, East Jersey. He also lived Staten Island, New York. Wife Susanna h (maiden name unknown) was noted on a land deed in 1687. Children named in his will were Joh n Jr., Richard, and Ann (born 13 Dec 1692) wife of James Leith.
