CATTLE KING DEAD
Mackinaw, Michigan, August 25 - John D. Gillette, the cattle king of Illinois, father-in-law of Governor Oglesby, died here this morning. At the time of his death he owned 20,000 acres of land in Logan County, Illinois and had $100,000 of stock of five Central Illinois banks. His fortune is estimated at $650,000. He was one of the first to export beef cattle to England.
