JIOHN GIRDIER, # 45058, my 12th great grandfather was born ca 1515 in Yorkshire, England during the reign of King Henry VIII.

Yorkshire is the land of the wild natural Lake District and the Pennine Chain (the backbone of England) which extends down out of Scotland. It also has long, silent sweeps of moors and woodlands with roe doe, badgers, and foxes.

The English ruler, King Henry VIII of the House of Tudor with a hearty disposition was keeping the English people happy. He established good relations with other countries. Henry was interested in the arts, eating, drinking, hunting and women. His 1st wife was Catherine of Argonne who he divorced because she failed to give him a male heir. He broke with the Roman Catholic Church which was against divorce. He married Anne Boleyn in 1532. Their daughter, Elizabeth Tudor, was born in September 7, 1533 in London. However, Henry VIII had Anne Boleyn beheaded on the charge of adultery. He took 4 more wives before he died in 1547. His 3rd wife, Jane Seymour died in 1537 after bearing his only legitimate son, Edward VI.

John Girdier's wife is unknown. His daughter, ELIZABETH ISABEL GIRDIER, who married RICHARD STONE is my 11th great grandmother.
