Served a a Private in both Companies A and C of the 6th West Virginia Cavalry. Enlisted twice: first on June 22, 1861, and then again on January 22, 1864. Captured at Winchester, Virginia, on April 8, 1864, and was sent to Andersonville Prison. Paroled on April 3, 1865, and was sent to the Army Hospital at Vicksburg, Mississippi. Mustered out on July 12, 1865.
