John G. Goutremout died Sunday of pneumonia at his home 0n West State Street after a brief illness. Prior to taking up his residence in Lowville about ten years ago the deceased was engaged in farming in Harrisburg, in which Town he was born 72 years ago, being a son of the late Nicholas Goutremout. In 1862 he enlisted in Company L. Fifth New York Heavy Artillery and was honorably discharged in 1865. He was a charter member of Gullford D. Bailey Post GAR.

   Mr. Goutremout was twice married, his first wife being Jane A. Doxtater who died May 6, 1888, leaving one son, William F. Goutremout of Castorland.  His second wife was Mina Grace Hart, their marriage taking place June 11, 1890 and who survives with one son Arthur H. Goutremout  a student at Syracuse University.  The funeral services were held from the late home of the deceased Tuesday afternoon.  Rv. Albert C. Loucks, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating.
