John Gray of Dalmarnock was enrolled as a burgess of Glasgow on 10 May 1758. The town council admitted him in right of his deceased father, John Gray of Dalmarnock, who had previously been a burgess and guild brother of Glasgow [James R. Anderson, The Burgesses and Guild Brethren of Glasgow, 1751-1846 (Scottish Record Society, Edinburgh, 1935), page 28].
