Descendant of James Chilton and his wife, Mary Winslow (Chilton), Mayflower passengers



Edward Gray married Mary Winslow in Plymouth on 16 January 1650/51. Mary was the daughter of John and Mary (Chilton) Winslow and a niece of Governor Edward Winslow. Mary Chilton was a Mayflower passenger.

John Gray, son of Edward Gray and Mary (Winslow) Gray, was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts on October 1, 1661.[1][2]

John married Joanna Morton in Plymouth on December 9, 1686.[3] [4] John and Joanna settled in Kingston and had the following children there:

Edward, b. September 21, 1687,[5] d. February 20, 1687/8[5]
Mary, b. December 7, 1688,[5] d. March 17, 1703[5]
Ann, b. August 5, 1691,[5] m. John Tinkham[4]
Desire, b. December 1, 1693,[5] d. December 6, 1695[5]
Joannah, b. January 29, 1695/6,[5] m. Ebenezer Fuller[4]
Samuel, b. December 23, 1701/2,[5] m. Patience Wadsworth[4]
Marcey/Mercy, b. February 4, 1703/4,[5] m. Jabez Fuller[4]
John Gray died in Kingston on May 29, 1732, at the age of 71.[6][4] In his will he made bequests to his wife Joanna, John TInkham (Ann Gray's widower), and his surviving children: Joanna, Samuel and Mercy.[4] John's son Samuel Gray was appointed as executor.[7] The full text of his will can be found at: "The Mayflower Descendant: A Quarterly Magazine of Pilgrim Genealogy and History," Volume 21 January 1, 1919, Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants, pp 62-64.

His inventory was taken on 7 August 1732 in Kingston.[8]

In 1738, his daughters, Joanna Fuller, wife of Ebenezer Fuller, and Mercy Fuller, wife of Jabez Fuller, all of Kingston, quitclaimed their share of their father's estate to their brother Samuel Gray.[9]
