It's just speculation that he was the son of Sir Thomas Greene, VI, Lord of Greens Norton and Maude (Matilda) Greene

The Visitation of Bedfordshire 1566 - John Greene of Stotfailde in Com. Bedford first husband of Edith daughter and one of the heires of Sir William Latymer of Duntoysh in Com Dorsett, Knight.[1]
