Funeral services were held for John H. Woldum, 76, at 2 o'clock Wednesday, Oct 8, at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah. Rev. R. A. Ofstedal officiating. Burial was in the Decorah Lutheran cemetery. The Winneshiek funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Woldum died Monday, Oct. 6 at the Decorah hospital after suffering a stroke Sunday. The pallbearers were Morris Woldum, Grant Woldum, Melford Woldum, Lester Teslow, Harold Teslow and Howard Teslow. Members of the floral committee were Mrs. Hazel Howland, Mrs. Clara Ann Webb, Mrs. Irene Halverson, Mrs. Ruth Renass and Mrs. Sophie Ruen. The organist was Rich M. Hobart and the Luren Singing Society offered vocal selections. Mr. Woldum was born in Norway October 10, 1875, the son of Halvor and Ranvei Woldum. He came from Norway to America in 1884 (1885) and settled in Glenwood township. He moved to Decorah in 1910 and was employed at the Decorah Produce. He received his education in the Glenwood rural school and at Breckenridge College in Decorah. One May 26, 1910, he married Cecelia Teslow at the Glenwood Lutheran church. Mrs. Woldum survives. They have six children: Mrs. Albert (Ruby) Moen, Mrs. Alvin (Jeanette) Gipp, and Ray Woldum, all of Decorah; Telford Woldum, Osage; Norman Woldum, Central City, IA; and Hubert Woldum of Waterloo. Mr. Woldum was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Decorah and was a member of the Luren Singing Society since 1910. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by 13 grandchildren and three brothers, Martin and Halvor Woldum, both of Decorah; and Nels Woldum of Stathmore, Alberta, Canada.
