Biography

John was born in 1703 in Scotland.

He emigrated to the New World and was a fisherman at Cleaves' Cove in Cape Porpoise.

He married Sarah Huff, daughter of Thomas & Grace (Ferris) Huff, in 1735 at Arundel, York, ME.

Children of John Hamor and Sarah Huff were:[1][2]

i. John Hamor II b. 1736 m. Mary Rodick removed to MDI

ii.Joanna Hamor, m. Joshua Carr

iii. Sarah, m. Benjamin Seavey

iv. Molly, m. John Stover in 1759

v. Bathsheba Hamor, m. Elisha Cousins

vi. Betty, b abt 1744, m. Daniel Rodick and moved to Hulls Cove on MDI

Military

In 1745 he fought at the Fortress of Fort Louisbourg in Captain Thomas Perkins' Company.

Death

He died in Cape Breton, leaving his widow with six young children aged 2-10.
