John was born in 1703 in Scotland.
He emigrated to the New World and was a fisherman at Cleaves' Cove in Cape Porpoise.
He married Sarah Huff, daughter of Thomas & Grace (Ferris) Huff, in 1735 at Arundel, York, ME.

Military
In 1745 he fought at the Fortress of Fort Louisbourg in Captain Thomas Perkins' Company.
Death
He died in Cape Breton, leaving his widow with six young children aged 2-10.
