Biography

John Hanson (Jr.), eldest son of John3 Hanson, Thomas2, Thomas1; born in Dover, NH, on 17 Mar. 1712/13, married 1.) Phebe Austin, daughter of Nathaniel and Catherine (Neale) Austin, of Dover, on 27 Feb. 1734/5 in Dover. She was born on 14 Mar. 1718 in Dover, a granddaughter of Thomas and Ann Austin. She died, and he remarried to 2.) Sarah Tuttle, daughter of Thomas and Mary (Brackett) Tuttle, on 21 Nov. 1750 in Dover. She was born on 16 June 1727 in Dover. The will of Thomas Tuttle Sr., of Dover, dated 21 Apr. 1772, and proved on 12 Mar. 1777, mentioned a daughter Sarah Hanson.

John Hanson (Jr.) was also a Quaker, and he died testate on 9 Jan. 1784 in Dover. He named his wife Sarah, sons John Jr., James, Samuel, and Isaac, and only his daughters Mary, Hannah, and Anna, in his will, which was dated 8 Nov. 1782, witnessed by Caleb Hodgdon, William Young and John Wentworth, Jr., and probated 11 Feb. 1784. His son John Hanson (3rd) was granted administration of his estate. Sarah (Tuttle) Hanson died on 12 Nov. 1804, possibly in Portsmouth, York Co., ME.

John Hanson (Jr.) had 5 children by Phebe Austin, and 9 children by Sarah Tuttle.
