Note: This John Hardy was the second son of John Hardy named John. The first born 11 Feb. 1668 died young:

"John, Jr., b 11 Feb. 1668; d. young." -- Hardy, Harrison Claude and Hardy, Edwin Noah, Hardy and Hardie, past and present (Syracuse, NY: Syracuse Typesetting Co, 1935), p.374

John Hardy born at Bradford, Mass., 3 Feb. 1674, twin brother of Joseph[1]. He married at Bradford, Mass., 8 Jul. 1701, Anne Savory. The date of the death of John is not known. He was living in 1727. The date of the death of his wife, Anne, is not definitely known either, although the Bradford records state: "Anna, ancient widow, mother of Jonathan, died 10 Mar. 1740-1." John Hardy and his wife moved to Westborough, Mass., soon after their marriage. After the death of his father, 1 Feb. 1714-5, he became John, Sr. Prior to that he was known as John, Jr.

Research Notes

Per Robert L. Ward, The Hardy Brothers of Westborough, Massachusetts in MASSOG Vol. 43 (2018–2019), No. 1 p 30+ (Excerpt):[2] "The authors of Hardy and Hardie identify Daniel, Phineas, and Aaron Hardy as sons of John3 Hardy (John2, Thomas1) and Anne (Savory) Hardy, of Bradford, Massachusetts.[3] Why the authors placed these three men in that family is mysterious. No evidence for this identification is presented. No birth records for these alleged children can be found, nor any probate record or Westborough deed for their parents. In fact, one wonders whether the authors said John had moved to Westborough simply because his supposed sons married there. ... The above records show that the parentage alleged by the Hardy book is erroneous, and that Daniel, Phineas, and Aaron Hardy of Westborough were brothers of Samuel3 Hardy and sons of Samuel2 and Rebecca (Forbush) Hardy."
