(Research):Died probably at Haverhill, N. H., "just before the Revolution." about 1774. John Hazzen of Haverhill was Captain of a company for the reduction of Ticonderoga and Crown Point in 1758 [Chase's History of Haverhill]. His imdemnity for 'loss of cloathes at Fort William Henry, " May 1758, was 46.16.6 pounds [N. Y. Prov. Papers, 6:676]. Payrolls of Capt. John Hazzen's company are also cited for 1759, 1760, 1761, 1762 [Ibid.]. In 1760 his company was with Col. Stevens' Regiment for the reduction of Canada. After the surrender of Montreal, Sept. 1760, Lieut.-Col. Jacob Bayley, Capt. John Hazen, Lieut. Jacob Kent, and Lieut. Timothy Bedell returned to Hampstead through the Connecticut Valley, and stopped at Coos and prospected. On 18 May 1763, with seventy-two others, the charter of Newbury [Vermont] was granted to the same men, John Hazen's name being first. In the spring of 1762, Capt. John Hazen went up and began to build a sawmill at North Haverhill, N. H. [Wells' History of Newbury]. He was an original proprietor of the town of Warren, N. H., and in 1764 a member of a committee to run lines about the township.
