John Heard came from Aiglish, Tyone County, Ireland to America in 1719 because of intolerable religious persecution. He is supposed to have engaged in an altercation with a member of the established church of Ireland over tithes in which he used a pitchfork on the tithes collector, This was a very serious offense, and as a result of this episode he left Ireland rather hurriedly bringing with him six sons and five daughters, Ieaving the seventh son Stephen the eldest, to settle his affairs. There is no information on his daughters.

John Hurd (aka Heard) was born in 1665, in Ireland, a son of John Hurd and Mary (Hearnds/Heanes). John Heard came from Aiglish, Tyone County, Ireland to America in 1719 because of intolerable religious persecution. He is supposed to have engaged in an altercation with a member of the established church of Ireland over tithes in which he used a pitchfork on the tithes collector, This was a very serious offense, and as a result of this episode he left Ireland rather hurriedly bringing with him six sons and five daughters.
