Biography

John Heath Jr., son of John Heath and Sarah (Partridge) Heath, was in Haverhill, Massachusetts on March 14, 1674/5.[1]

John married Frances Hutchins in Haverhill on January 12, 1696/7.[2]

John and Frances had the following children, all born in Haverhill:[1]

  1. Samuel, b. April 25, 1698
  2. John, b. June 11, 1700
  3. William, b. January 19, 1701/2.
  4. Caleb, b. June 30, 1704
  5. Joanna, b. February 13, 1706/7
  6. Bartholomew, b. April 1, 1709
  7. Ruth, bp. November 4, 1711[3]
  8. Sarah, b. September 5, 1711
  9. Benjamin, b. April 4, 1713
  10. Nehemiah, b. February 23, 1717/8
  11. Rachel, b. April 20, 1720

No evidence has been found that establishes John Heath's date or place of death. Some family trees show him as dying in Norwich, Connecticut in 1713, which is obviously incorrect; others have him dying sometime after 1720 in Hampstead, New Hampshire, which is more plausible, given that at least four of his sons settled in about 1730 in the area between Haverhill and Kingston that would later (1749) be incorporated as Hampstead, New Hampshire.

No evidence has been found that establishes Frances (Hutchins) Heath's date or place of death.

    3. Most family trees do not include Ruth, and her parentage is more in doubt than the other children listed. Her parentage is based on a Haverhill record showing that a Ruth Heath, daughter of a John Heath Jr., was baptized in Haverhill on November 4, 1711.
