For some time it has been known that John Heffner, a well-known resident of York Township, who lives on a farm between Clyde and Bellevue, has been failing. The end time came at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1903. Miss Sue Heffner, a well-known teacher in the Clyde schools, has visited him many times during his illness and was with him on the night of his death. He was 64 years, 10 months and 20 days old. He was a brother of D.A. and H.F. and Miss Sue Heffner of Clyde.
Deceased was born in Union County, Pa., Oct. 25, 1838, and at an early age came with his parents to Ohio, where they located in York Township, and where the subject of this sketch grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Rosa Mook who died about three years ago. Three children were born to this union, Frank, now living in North Dakota, Jay of Bellevue, Miss Laura, at home.
Mr. Heffner was a veteran of the civil war serving in Company B, 169 Regt. O.V.I., and was a member of Gambee Post, G.A.R. He has been sick for the past two months and death was due to anemia or impoverished blood.
The funeral will be held under the auspices of Gambee Post, G.A.R. at York Free Chapel, Friday Morning at 9:30, sermon by Rev. M. Reece. Interment in cemetery adjoining.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Apr 4 2024, 13:39:46 UTC
