John Hendry, Sr.

Biography

John Hendry, Sr was born on December 1, 1778 in New Hanover, North Carolina, United States. His parents were Robert Hendry and Ann Hendry. John Hendry was a Private in Captain Robert Quarterman's Company of Infantry, 2nd Regiment Georgia Militia during the War of 1812. A farmer, John was a pioneer settler of Jasper, Florida and later moved to Jennings in Hamilton County, Florida.

John married Catherine Hendry on December 31, 1808 in Taylors Creek, Liberty, Georgia, United States. Together they had the following children: John Hendry, Jr.; James Norton Hendry; Robert Hendry; Judith Nancy Holloway; Archibald Hendry; Charles Wesley Hendry; George Washington Hendry.

He died in December 1858 in Jennings, Hamilton, Florida, United States and was buried in Hendry Cemetery, Taylor, Florida, United States.
