“John Hubley was the son of Isaac and Tatiana (Nekrasov) Hubley. His father was from French Village, St. Margaret's Bay, Halifax, Nova Scotia and his mother was from Afognak village on Afognak Island, Alaska. John was raised in Unga Village on Unga Island, Shumagin Islands, Alaska, he was a bear guide and boat carpenter. He married Nedezda Chernoff from Chirikov Island, Alaska, they had five sons and five daughters.
John and his family moved from Unga Village to Kodiak, Alaska. It is where he lived the remainder of life.
John was preceded in death by his father and mother. He had four brothers, James, Isaac, William and Evfimii; he had five sisters, Irina, Mary, Alexandra, Katherine, and Elizabeth.”
