John Hugh Hilton was the son of Hugh Hilton and Isabella Pilkington.

He married Maria Parker June 1, 1881 in the L.D.S. temple in Saint George, Washington County, Utah. They raised eleven children. Ten years after her death, he married Caroline Aurelia Curtis Blair, a widow, March 2, 1934 in the L.D.S. temple in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona.

The date of his burial is February 21, 1948.
