In Augustin Hunnicutt’s will[29] dated 30 May 1682, proved 6 Mar 1683, Augustine Sen’r gives Son Augustine Hunnicutt land to be added to forty acres of land he formerly gave him and acknowledged in Surry County all the land I have granted to me by Leven [-?-] and Geo Carter formerly of Surry County; son Robert all the land I have on the North side of a Cart path; Wife Mary land  where on I now live during her natural life and after her death to Daughter Katherine; Loving wife Mary and Son Augustine full and Sole Executors.

John and Elizabeth (Warren) Hunnicutt had John, William, and Thomas. William died about 1718,[4] his mother settled his estate so it is doubtful that he was married. The boys at age 16 and older appear with John and Elizabeth on various records of tithables. Boys at age 16 start appearing on tithable lists. This is a good way to determine approximate birth years. It is important to pay attention to the location and associates in sorting out the two families.

John Hunnicutt, son of Augustine, b ca 1650, d 1699 in Surry County, VA. In 1671 he married Elizabeth Warren--part of a family that came to Jamestown with Capt James Smith. Her father's home is still standing, the Smith's Fort Plantation of Surry Country, VA, and is the oldest brick building in VA, built in 1652. They had at least four children: Robert, Augustine, John Jr., and William. 1. This John was the Hunnicutt that was in Bacon's Rebellion. John may have been the son of Augustine Hunnicutt. John lived in Southwarke Parish in 1673. He figured in Bacon's Rebellion of 1676. Probably belonged to the group at Bacon's Castle with William Rookings men. He signed a petition on February 6th 1676 asking for pardon from the King after Bacon died and the rebellion was in the process of being put down by the British. 2. John Hunnicutt, born circa 1650, died 1699, first figures inthe Surry County records in 1668, being then named in the"List of Lawnes Creek Tythables," and assessed for one tithe.John Hunnicutt, "who hath Married Elizabeth Warren, daugh-ter of Mr. Tho : Warren, dec'd," gave a receipt to Mr. MathiasMarriott, for "her p'portion as it was given unto the Co'rt byMrs Jane Warren," in Surry, 20 March 1670-1, this documentbeing acknowledged at the April Court 1671. She was daugh-ter of Thomas Warren of Smith's Fort, in Surry, (by his sec-ond wife, Elizabeth , widow of Major Robert Shepherd of Surry). Surry County records for the next thirty years contain frequentmentions of John 1 Hunnicutt, but none of particular interest. Thus JohnHunnicutt appraised the estate of Thomas Warwell 11 May 1675; andwas named among the tithables 10 June 1675. John Hunnicutt was re-ported for not frequenting the church 9 July 1675; and on 26 February1676-7, was among the forty residents of Surry who, having been concerned in Bacon's Rebellion, addressed a petition to the King, "to through ourselves at his Maj'ties & ye Rt. Hono'ble Sr. Wm. Berkeley's feete for Mercy and Pardon." He is named among the tithables in October 1678,again in 1679, and assessed for one tithable "in precincts of Southwarke"10 June 1684, &c, &c. John 1 Hunncutt died in Surry early in the year 1699.

Origins:
Some dispute the parents of Augustine.
Some dispute he is the father of this John and an unnamed wife.
Some dispute this John is the father of Robert and surmise him to be the son of Augustine.
