Per files by Gary Davis, from Transcriptions by Timthy Hicks of Wayne Beeler's genealogy on the HICKS family :

" Thomas Hicks : Moved from North Carolina upto Lunenburg County, Virginia about 1745; lived on Modest Creek just south of Nottoway County Line. Thomas was a ranger during the French and Indian War. Sometime around 1759-1761 he moved the family a few miles southwest to Charlotte County, Virginia where they lived near Wyliesburg on Sandy Creek. Several Families from this vincinty started moving down to Montgomery County, North Carolina in the middle 1760's, so many of them were neighbors in North Carolina as well as in Virginia. Thomas may have married ( an ) ELIZABETH JORAN, ( daughter of CHARLES JORDAN ) about 1735 in Chowan County, North Carolina. It is my theory that Charles Jordan was also the father of JOHN JORDAN who went to Montgomery Co. North Carolina around 1754. John had sons FRANCIS and REUBEN JORDAN. Francis was the father of SARAH JORDAN who married ROBERT HICKS" ( Robert V. Hicks b. abt. 1770 Charlotte Co. VA ). " He may also have had daughter AGNES JORDAN who married LITTLEBERRY HICKS. " ( Wayne Beeler files goes on to state that if he is correct on this assumption of Agnes and Sarah Jordan being sisters and both had married brothers Robert V. and Little Berry Hicks, then Robert and Sarah would ahve been second cousins, as would Berry and Agnes Jordan Hicks. ) ( Wayne Beeler also concluded that he believed that Thomas Hicks had stayed in VA and did not move to North Carolina with others of the family, including the Butlers. ).
