About John Stebbins Kennard
Dies in Boston
John Kennard, 60, of Charles River Square, Boston, died after an accident in his home Wednesday afternoon. He was president of Hodgson Kennard Jewelers at the Ritz Carlton Hotel until his retirement in 1955.
He was born in Boston and entered the business founded by his father in 1930. He became president of the firm in 1938. Mr Kennard was president of the Boston Jewelers Club and was an expert in gemology. He was the first certified gemologist in New England and was a director of the American Gemologist Society.
Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Eaton; a daughter, Mrs James H Gilman, Jr of Annisquam; a brother, Fairchild Kennard of Cazenovia, and two sisters, Mrs Francis W Hatch of Boston and Miss Helen Kennard of Cazenovia.
Memorial services will be in Cazenovia.

FALLS TO DEATH
BOSTON, Nov 1 -- (AP) John S Kennard, 60, retired president of Kennard and Company, incorporated, Boston jewelry firm, fell to his death yesterday from a second floor window of his home in Charles River Square. Kennard leaves his wife, Elizabeth and a daughter.
