John Lancaster, III was born on January 12, 1729, in Richmond, Henrico, Virginia, United States. His parents were John Lancaster, II and Frances Mary Lancaster (Allen). He was a Merchant and Farmer. He was providing ammunition to Patriots with his father and brother's, found a Letter dated 1778 may have been from him or his father John Lancaster, II to their Merchant friend, John Parker, originally from Virginia[(document deleted)]

John married Anne Lancaster. Together they had the following children: William Lancaster.
