Life

At Scituate Town Council, John and Renew Lippit with Gideon Harris personally appearing declared on their several engagements that they saw Anthony Sprague signed, sealed and declared what was written to be his last will and testament on 10 February 1745.[1]

To all People to whom this Deed of Sale Shall Come Know Yee that we John Lipit and Renue my wife and Mehetable West of the Town of Warwick in the County of Providence in ye Colony of Rhoad island in Newengland for and in consideration of the sum of Forty and three pounds currant money of Newengland to us in hand well and truly paid by Job Mason of Swansey in the County of Bristol in the province of the Massachusetts Bay in Newengland Yeoman the Receipt whereof we do acknowledge our Selves fully Satisfyed contented and paid Have given granted Bargained Sold aliened conveyed and confirmed as by these presents do give grant Bargain Sell alien convey and confirm unto him the Said Job Mason his heirs and assigns forever a certain peice of land containing about Twelve acres & one half be it more or less it being an amendment Right of Land laid out to our honoured Grandfather Benjamin Carpenter deceased situate Lying and being in Swansey aforesaid and Bounded Westerly by Hezekiah Bowens Land North by the Land of Benjamin Mason Eastward by a Highway and South by a Highway to the first Line Together with all and Singular the Timber wood Stones her=bidge grass feeding Rents proper priviledges and appurtenances belonging or any wayes appertaining to the above sd peice of Land to him the Said Job Mason his heirs and assigns forever to the only use Benefit and Behoof of him the sd Job Mason his heirs & assigns from henceforth and forever more and that the said Job Mason his heirs or assigns shall and forever here after may by force and virtue of these presents Have hold use occupy possess and quietly enjoy all the above granted and bargained premises free Clear and Clearly acquitted and fully discharged of and from all other gifts grants Bargains Sales Mortgages Joynters Dowers, Troubles or Incumberances whatsoever and we the said John Lipit & Renue his wife and Mehetable West do bind and oblige our Selves our heirs Executors admrs or assigns to warrant & forever Defend all the above granted premises with their appurtenances unto him the Sd Job Mason his heirs and assigns against all the Lawfull Claims or Demands of all person or persons whomsoever In Witness Whereof we have hereunto Set our hands & Seals the Twenty ninth Day of March one Thousand Seven hundred thirty Six in the ninth year of his majesties Reign &c John Lippitt {S} Renew Lippit {S} Mehetabel West {S} Signed Sealed & Delivered In the presence of us John Wickes Thomas Wicks Warwick in ye County of Province Ss: the within mentioned John and Renew Lippit & Mehetable West acknowledged the within written Instrument to be their act & deed hands & seals thereunto affixed Coram John Wicks Assist. To all People to whom these Presents Shall Come Greeting Know Ye that we John Lippit or Warwick in the County of Providence in the Colony of Rhoad island and providence plantations in Newengland Cordwainer and Renew Lippit his wife and Mehetabel West of the Town and County aforesaid Spinster for and in Consideration of the Sume of Four Pounds to us in hand Recd and well and truly paid by Phillip Wheeler of the Town of Rehoboth in the County of Bristol in the province of the Massachusetts Bay in sd Newengland Yeoman the Receipt whereof we do acknowledge and our Selves therewith fully Satisfyed & of every part thereof do exonerate acquit and fully Discharge him the Sd Phillip Wheeler his heirs Executors admrs and assigns forever Have Given granted and Sold and by these peresents do freely and fully give grant & sell unto him the Said Phillip Wheeler his heirs and assigns forever a Certain Tract or parcell of Land Containing by Estimation Three Acres be it more or less Cituate in Said Rehoboth on the N:Ely Side of Rocky river on the Easterly Side of Jotham Carpenters Land Bounded as followeth (viz) begining at a Stake in Ephm Hix Junrs [Line crossed out] of his Land thence South half a point west Thirty Three Rods to sd Jotham Carpenters Land then bounding with sd Carpenters Land Sixteen Rods on the South Side then bounding on Sd Carpenters Land west=erly thirty three Rods till it Comes to Sd Hixes Land then bounding with Said Hixes Land Sixteen Rods to the first Corner To Have & To Hold Said Three Acres of Land be it more or less as above bounded or may more fully appear in ye 22d folio of ye 3d Book of Rehoboth Land Record as it is there Recorded with all the priviledges and appurtenances to the Same Belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the Said Phillip Wheeler his heirs and assigns forever Furthermore we ye sd John Lippit Renew Lippit his wife and Mehetabel West for our Selves our heirs Exrs and amdrs do Covenant and Ingage the above demised premises to him the Said Philip Wheeler his heirs and assigns against the Lawfull Claims & Demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to warrant soever Defend In Witness whereof we have hereunto Set our hands & Seals the Twenty Ninth Day of March in the Ninth year of his mejs Reign anno Domini 1736 John Lippitt {S} Renew Lippitt {S} Mehetabel West Signd Seald & Delivd John Wicks Job Mason Warwick in the County of Providence Ss the within mentioned John Lippitt and Renew Lippit & Mehetabel West acknowledged the within written the Day and year within mentioned to be their act & Deed hands and Seals therewit affixed Coram John Wickes assistant Recd March 12 1738/9 Recorded By Samll Howland Regr[3] (Bristol County, Land Deed Records, Book 27, p. 435) John and Renew Lippitt of Warwick and Mehetable West to Jotham Carpenter of Rehoboth, March 29, 1736.
