John Lloyd is mentioned by the famous author Charles Dickens in his book 'The Pilgrim Edition of the Letters of Charles Dickens: Volume 6: 1850-1852' on page 660:
'Beadnell's eldest daughter, married in 1831 to David Lloyd (1800-59), head of the firm in Rood Lane, Fenchurch St; mentioned in CD's verses "A Bill of Fare". They had six daughters, born 1832-43, and there are descendants surviving. The Lloyds were a well-known Montgomery family and David a burgess of the town (1822). His brother Maurice was Rector, and both David and Margaret (d.1884) are commemorated in the church. John D.K. Lloyd, FSA (1900-78), their great-nephew, gives these and many other details in "The Lloyds of Montgomery" (Montgomery Collections, Vol. 49, 1946) and A Montgomeryshire Notebook, 1971. The connexion doubtless influenced George Beadnell's choice of a country place, the Lloyds spending holidays there or with other relations in the region. Their home in the south was Pevril House, Peak Hill, Sydenham in 1840-51 or 1852 and later Shepley House, Carshalton, Surrey, where George Beadnell died on 5 Nov 1862 in his 90th year (The Times', 8 Nov 62). But a glass armoirial shield of the Beadnells is in Meifod Church.'
