About John Lowrie
As per records of George Bond, typed notes state on Pg. 26, "John Lowrie, the pioneer, was a native of Scotland, having been a banker in the city of Edinburgh for many years, where his children were born prior to his emigrating to the United States in 1792. After a few years' residence in Huntington County, Pennsylvania, he removed farther west in the same State, making a permanent settlement on the borders of what are now Venango and Butler counties. The Lowrie's were deeply religious and intensely Presbyterian."
Find A Grave member, Jo A. McGinnis, responded to my request for a photo of John and Catherine Lowrie's headstones:
"I have been working with the caretaker of this cemetery. It is now photographed at 90%. I have attempted to get a photograph for each request. This burial is in an old section for which there are no written records, only what is on the headstones. Some graves are unmarked and others are so old and are no longer readable. I am sorry we could not find a headstone for you."
I am John and Catherine's 4x great granddaughter. I had visited the cemetery in August in hopes of finding their headstones. I did not find them, but had planned to return and look again. After getting this message from Jo, I think it is safe to say the headstones are either too old to read or are not there. (There are headstones as old or older that can be read.)* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Aug 27 2019, 0:13:47 UTC
