John Maddox

By May 11, 1748 when John Maddox was dictating his Last Will and Testament, his brothers: Samuel Maddox (1674-1725), William Maddox (1676-1714), and Notley Maddox (1672-1714) were all deceased and he seems to have no male heirs. He bequeaths to William Maddox, son of his brother Samuel, all of his wearing apparel. Ten slaves are assigned to his one living nephew and brothers grandsons to be placed only after his wife Sarah's death. The land, livestock and movables are handled in his wife's Last Will and Testament in 1761. Interestingly there is no mention of his daughter Sarah Hatch Maddox who is referred to as the daughter of John Maddox in the Last Will and Testament of Sarah Maddox in 1761.
