About John Marcy, Sr.
One of the thirteen "goers" who first went from Roxbury to spy out Woodstock and take possession.
John Marcy came to America in 1683 at about age 24 and settled in Roxbury, Massachusetts. In 1686, he removed to what was later Woodstock, Connecticut as one of the original founders. He married Sarah Hadlock about 1687/1688. He was a deacon in his church as well as a husbandman and proprietor.

"John Marcy was the son of the high sheriff of Limerick, Ireland. . . . as an adult, he joined Elliot's Church in Quatosett (Woodstock), Conn. In April, 1686, he, with others, took possession of Quatosett (Woodstock), Connecticut."
