John Marston, son of Captain William (1), married Jan. 15, 1653, Martha ____________; settled in Hampton, where four children born; afterwards moved to Andover, Mass.l may have had children born there. (History of Hampton, p837)
Mass & Maine Families lists John as a son of William Marston & his first wife (name unknown). "John, bapt. June 20, 1630, at Hemsby; m. Martha --, Jan 15, 1652/3; sold his house in Hampton in 1664 and moved to Andover, selectman 1683-4; d. April 2, 1708, aged eighty-two; his widow d. Oct 11, 1723, aged eighty-seven; ten children."
Volume 14, page 326 of NEHGS Register has an entry for the "founders of New England" listing "Aprill the 11th 1637. The examinacton of Marey Moulton of Ormsby in Norff. Wydow ageed 30 yeares and 2 Saruants; John Maston, aged 20 yeares and Merrean Moulton aged 23 yeares are desirous to go to New England to inhabitt and dwell."
The Marston Genealogy on page 434 states: "John Marston, third son of William, Sr., was born in Yorkshire county, England in 1626, and came to Salem, Mass., in 1634, with his father, following him to Newbury, Mass, thence in Oct., 1638, to Hampton, N.H., where he md. Martha
, Jan. 15, 1652. He resided in Hampton until 1664, when he sold his homestead to Francis Paidge (Page), the 28th of April; then removed to Andover, Mass., where he died April 2, 1708, aged 82 years."
"In his [John Marston] will, made May 19, 1707, and probated May 10, 1708, he speaks of himself as old and infirm." The genealogy does not include a copy of his will. [1]
