His parents were Jacob Måttsson Mårten and Jans Mårten. He was a Dutch East India Trading Company employee.
John married Ann Johnson before 1655. Together they had the following children:
He was an employee and crew member of the Dutch India Trading Company, he may have died in the Netherlands while traveling or since an employee his death and burial recorded. He did own land in the Virginia Colony.
He settled in Rappahannock County, Virginia, Colonial America just after arriving September 12, 1661 with his step-mother Aeltje Goosens Mårten ; she was listed on the ship manifest as traveling with him.
He died in 1667 in Old Rappahannock County, Virginia, Colonial America and Records in Netherlands have records recording date as death and burial on April 28, 1667 in Bergen op Zoom, Noord-Brabant, Nederland.
