John married Sarah Martin circa 1810. Together they had the following children:
James Monroe Martin.
He died on March 16, 1840 in Martinsville, Henry County, Virginia, United States.
According to GENERAL JOSEPH MARTIN, OF VIRGINIAAN UNSUNG HERO OF THE VIRGINIA FRONTIER, BY DR. WILLIAM ALLEN PUSEY Chicago, Illinois. Read before The Filson Club, February 3, 1936 @ (document attached) pg. 475-476, John Martin was not a son of Brigadier General Joseph Martin and Sarah Lucas. RM249
His Correct father was Joseph Martin b 1724 -1805 of Richland County, SC FTDNA Martin Project Group 8 Martin [https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000199159369841] Named on the Will
There is no evidence that I can find that these [Joseph Martin and Sarah Lucas] are the parents of John Martin. In fact, descendants of this John Martin and his son Anson Cook Martin (BTW, where did that Cook middle name come from?) are unsure. We do know that one of his descendants tested his YDNA, and this ancestor would be R1a, specifically tied to R-FTB64834 with two known YDNA matches, and a grand total of 10 matches. I also descend from a common Martin ancestor to John Martin, along with several other Williams men. We would love it is someone can provide us evidence of who John Martin's parents REALLY were.
