Birth
John Maulsby, the eldest child of William and Mary (Roades) Maltby aka Maulsby was born 4 March 1690 at Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, England. [1] The Maltby's arrived at Philadelphia in 1689 and their children's births are all recorded in the same register of births for the Philadelphia Monthly Meeting (MM). [1]

Marriage and Children
As evidenced by her father's Will he married Mary Woodward daughter of Anthony and Hannah Woodward. For a while they resided in Plymouth Twp. then Philadelphia. Their children were all probably born in Plymouth.

Residences
He grew up in Philadelphia and after reaching adulthood he removed to Philadelphia.

In 1724 from Plymouth Township, Philadelphia County, he removed back to Philadelphia about thirteen miles southeast. He appears to have purchased, on mortgage, a ferry business.

He later removed to North Carolina. His Will was probated in Bladen County, North Carolina with administrative papers also recorded in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania due to debtor claims (not in arrears, this appears to have been a normal process in the proceedings for estate creditors).
