Mr. John McCall Died Suddenly Yesterday Morning.

Paw Creek was shocked yesterday morning by the news of the sudden death during the night, of Mr. John A. McCall, one of the best-known citizens of the township.

Mr. McCall retired Thursday night in his usual health. About 3:30 o'clock yesterday morning his son, who was in adjoining room, heard his father struggle in bed. He ran to him, but just as he reached the bed Mr. McCall expired. Deceased was 65 years of age. He was born in the lower edge of the county, near Philadelphia. Afterward he moved to Paw Creek. He was twice married. By his first wife he had a number of children, one of whom is Supt. McCall, of the county home. His second wife survives him. He leaves nine children in all. Mr. McCall was a life-long member of Sharon church. He was an honest, upright man, a kind neighbor, and good citizen. He drew a pension as a veteran of the Mexican war, and also a State pension as a soldier of the late war.

The funeral services will take place to-day at 3 o'clock, at Sharon.

Confederate Veteran: Served with Company F, 5th NC Cavalry, later with Company C, 1st NC Cavalry, and later in Company I, 48th NC Infantry. Wounded at Cold Harbor in June, 1864.
