Biography

John McClurug. (Bath John), b. about 1733; d. 1830, "age 97 years." nl. Sarah McCutcheon, of Augusta, Co., Va. lie Went from Rockbridge Co. to Bath Co., Va. He was for a number of years proprietor of the hotel at Warm Springs,Va. He used to visit his brothers in Greenbriar Cu., W. Va. once every year, and was greatly beloved by his kindred there.
He was a Revoluntionary soldier and served in General Portcrfield's regiment. Gen. Porterfield used to say when John McClung would pray before a battle, victory was sure to perch upon the American banners. He was an Elder in the \Vindv Cnvc Presbyterian Church.
