"The information on the Utah state death certificate gives his name as John Riley McDaniel born 31 May 1839 in Adams Co. Ill. It also gives his father as John McDaniel and his mother as Christina Stoker. This information was given by his wife Martha McDaniel. His father was not John Riley McDaniel as many people state. Someone has posted a Picture of his father John McDaniel's headstone with the name of John Riley McDaniel which is incorrect. There are many other publications which also state that John Riley's father was John McDaniel. He was not named after his father."
