John McMahon, second son of
Mr. and Mrs. P. McMahon, Mul- lenderree, died early on Thursday morning at the Moruya Cottage Hospital from acute peritonitis. Deceased was sixty years of age and unmarried. "Jack," as he was popularly called, was a good citizen and greatly respected. His sporting proclivities favored horse racing, and no one loved a good horse better. The remains were taken from the Hospital to the Sacred Heart Church, from whence the funeral took place on Friday. It was largely attended. The body was placed to rest in the R.C. portion of the Moruya cemetery, the Rev. J. Cassidy officiating. The public had barely recovered from the shock of Mr. John Mc Mahon's death when word was re- ceived that his father, Mr. Patrick McMahon, died peacefully at his residence in Mullenderree where he had lived for nearly 70 years. Mr. McMahon was 92. He was one of the earliest pioneers of this district and engaged almost ex- clusively in agriculture and dairy- ing, and by his industry became possessed of one of the most valu- able farming properties in the dis- trict. By those who knew him, and they are legion, Mr. McMahon was held in high esteem. He leaves a widow and large family for whom in their double bereave- ment there is wide spread sym- pathy. Notwithstanding the threatening weather on Sunday afternoon, the cortege that followed the remains was large and repre- sentative.
