About John Jacob Miller
John MILLER was of French descent, his father or grandfather having come to America as a soldier in General LaFayette's army during the Revolutionary War. He and his brother Christy owned several hundred acres of land west of Nolin, KY. It is said he was considered to be a fairly wealthy man. It is also said that he operated a whiskey still around Millerstown, KY.
John MILLER, very level headed, rode a young horse to Elizabethtown, KY one day, against the advice of his family. On the way home, a sudden noise in the fence caused the horse to rear up. John fell off and was internally and fatally injured. (Date: between 1860 - 1870.)
