MEMORIAL PHOTOS 0 FLOWERS 0 John Miller was born in Pennsylvania in 1822. According to his daughter Charlotte's obituary, he was a son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Miller who came from Meadville, Pennsylvania in 1834 and settled on Buckhorn Prairie near Jacksonville, Illinois.

John married Margaret Bryant in Jacksonville, Illinois, on December 31, 1845. She was 14 years old, he was 23. They lived in Morgan County for several years. The 1850 US Census shows them farming there. Then they moved to Sangamon County. The 1870 US Census shows them farming in Pawnee Township, and the 1880 US Census shows them farming 160 acres in Auburn.
