John Wesley Mills Obituary, January 13, 1971, Cumberland, Maryland, from Ancestry.com: John Wesley Mills, 96, of 457 S. Cloud Street here died yesterday at Potomac Valley Hospital. he had been in failing health for several months.
Born in Sector, West Virginia, he was the son of the late John M. and Mary (Taylor) Mills. He was a retired B & O Railroad conductor; member of the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen; IOOF Lodge 75 of Keyser; and a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Martha V. (Hottinger) Mills; three sons, Ivan Mills, Keyser; Horace Mills, Cumberland; Forrest Mills, Chicago; five daughters, Mrs. Idella Krumpack, Mrs. Arvelia Ack and Mrs. Virginia Wey, all of here; Mrs. Pauline Calhoun, Parkersburg, and Mildred Strathers, Clarksburg, West Virginia. Also 3 brothers, George and Frank Mills, both of Romney, and Jacob Mills, Great Falls, Montana, and a sister, Mrs. Edith Cain, Detroit; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
The body is at the Betruck Funeral Home here where friends will be received after 7 p.m. today. Services will be conducted Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home by Rev. G. Frank Phyben. Interment will be in Queens Point Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Beanell, George Hochmae, Ernest Daily, Joseph M. Stafford, Homer P. Salder, Darrell Barger, Leonard Miller and James S. Buckley.
