About John Moore, Sr
The following was written by his Grandson, Ceph Moore, in 1886. "John Moore soldiered the last five years of the war in the old Revolutionary War. He was a Minute Man in the New Jersey Blues. At one time in the War he was the only man that was awake. He walked out a piece for water and saw the British had them nearly surrounded. He waked up all he could and cut back through the British three times to urge the drowsy and weary Patriots out. He here got the praise of saving the American Army."
